Maut

General Strat

  • Maut will be tanked in mid with the raid somewhat stacked near him.
  • Devour Magic debuffs will go on a few players who will need to move out just outside the raid and drop their pools. These pools need to be around 30+ yards away from the boss but not so far as to be unreachable as we need to use them for several mechanics.
  • When Maut casts Stygian Annihilation, everyone needs to step inside of the pools from Devour Magic to be immune to magic damage. It is a 5s cast and you should step into a pool in the last 1-2s.
  • Dark Manifestation sucks players towards it (try to stay near mid) then spawns a Dark Manifestation add. This add needs to be picked up by the offtank. It will be tanked near a Devour Magic pool to dip in when it casts Dark Offering.
  • Magic damage does no damage to the Dark Manifestation while it is in a Devour Magic pool. If the add gets too close to maut, it will give him a ton of mana depending on what the adds’ mana level is at. This will be used to push the boss into P2.
  • Dodge Black Wings when the boss turns to face you and watch your back as you don’t want to get knocked into a puddle if you are just taking it to the face. In PTR Black Wings was targeted towards melee. Melee should be on the opposite side of the boss to ranged.
  • In mythic, several players will get an Ancient Curse which can either be decursed or removed by jumping in a Devour Magic pool. This deals small damage to the raid when removed and kills you if you forget to remove it.

  • P2 - 100% Mana

  • Begins when the boss reaches 100% mana. We need to burn all of that mana before Maut finishes his Obsidian Shatter cast.
  • Players will get a dispellable Drain Essence debuff which needs to be ran out of the group and dispelled asap.
  • The raid will stack near the boss and the tanks + orb soakers will run out to grab the Orbs that head toward him. These Orbs need to be popped far from the boss, close to where they spawn. After popping an orb, you will have a debuff that will give anyone near you mana and bonus healing so make sure you hit the raid with it after 6s of popping the orb.

Abilities

    Phase 1 - Obsidian Destroyer

  • Devour Magic - Maut marks several players and after 6s consumes all magic around them, gaining mana for every player within 9 yards and inflicting 74k Shadow damage to all players hit. Leaves behind a Devoured Abyss.
    • Devoured Abyss - An area devoid of magic that silences and prevents incoming healing, but grants immunity to all other magic for players and creatures within it. Devoured Abyss also drains mana and inflicts 59k Shadow damage every 2s, stacks. Upon collapsing inflicts 368k Shadow damage to all units within 9 yards.
  • Stygian Annihilation - Maut causes ancient power to erupt throughout the chamber, inflicting 2.4mil shadow damage to all players.
  • Shadow Claws (Tank) - Maut slashes its current target, inflicting 368k Physical damage and applying Shadow Wounds.
    • Shadow Wounds (Tank) - Wounds resulting from Shadow Claws burn with dark energy, inflicting 49k Shadow damage every 2s for 24s, stacks.
  • Dark Manifestation - Maut causes shadows to coalesce at a nearby location, sucking in players and inflicting 589k Shadow damage to all players within 12 yards after 6s. As the shadows collapse a Dark Manifestation is formed.
    • Dark Manifestation - Shadows twisted into a terrible manifestation of Ny’alotha’s dark magic.
      • Dark Aegis - Swirling Shadow magic protects the Dark Manifestation, causing it to lose mana instead of health.
      • Dark Offering - The Dark Manifestation sheds up to 20% of its total mana and grants it to Maut.
    • Devour Manifestation - Maut destroys any Dark Manifestation within 20 yards, devouring part of its mana pool and adding it to its own.
  • Consuming Shadows - Maut periodically inflicts Shadow damage to all players every 1s for 3s. Shadow damage increases as it gains mana.
  • Black Wings - Maut’s wings unleash a blast of wind, knocking back all players in a 40 yard cone in front of the caster and inflicting 393k Physical damage.
  • Ancient Curse (Mythic Curse) - Maut afflicts players with an ancient curse, turning players to stone and slowing them by 15%. When the curse is removed the stone shatters, inflicting 35k Physical damage on all allies. If the curse remains after 24s, the player dies.
  • Phase 2 - Obsidian Statue

  • Obsidian Skin - Maut transforms into an obsidian statue protected by a mana shield. While the shield lasts, Maut loses mana instead of health and inflicts 100% of incoming damage back on attackers as Arcane damage. Depleting Maut’s mana breaks the spell and interrupts Obsidian Shatter.
  • Obsidian Shatter - Maut gathers power for 1min. Upon finishing its channel Maut’s mana shield shatters, inflicting 1.4mil Shadow damage on all players.
  • Consumed Magic - Maut consumes 10% mana every 6s to permanently increase all magic damage done by 1%, stacks.
  • Forbidden Ritual - Maut draws orbs of mana from the altars around it. Players or creatures that touch the orb explode, inflicting Arcane damage to all players based on how far the orb traveled. Each mana orb that reaches Maut restores up to 100% of its mana. Players who touch the orb are afflicted with Forbidden Mana.
    • Forbidden Mana - Mana erupts from the player after 6s, granting allies within 20 yards 150% increases mana regeneration and increasing their healing done by 50% for 8s.
  • Drain Essence (Dispellable) - Maut drains life and mana from players, inflicting 49k Shadow damage and burning 4k mana every 1s for 8s. While the spell lasts, Maut gains 1% mana every second. Upon removal the spell erupts, inflicting 98k Shadow damage and burning 10k mana from allies within 8 yards.
